Break Dancing with the 3Bs

Our very own Brandon Cote, brings you two days of break dancing with special guests, Brandon Brown and Braden Penno.

Brown has had the privilege of training and teaching with the Def Sol dance crew for the last five years and has performed at Shambhala, and taught workshops and performed at Motion Notion, Roots and Blues and the Astral Harvest music festivals as well as competed in popping competitions.
Students can expect to learn the foundational movements that make up the styles of popping and animation and will learn waving and tutting moves, building up a combination to a specific song by end of class.

Penno has been a bboy for over 15 years. Beginning in Saskatoon, SK, he helped found the Alpha Kids crew, and is a recruit for the infamous Dangerous Goods. He is known throughout the Canadian scene as a source of energy and creativity. Penno has seen competitive success in spite of living away from the large urban centers, and was recently a guest at Redbull BC One in Toronto, and the Northwest Sweet 16 in Seattle. The workshop will provide b-boy fundamentals, and some of his own movements, philosophy, and advice for all dancers.

Aerial Acro Camp with Jamie Holmes

Jamie Holmes’ career has taken her around the world performing on vegas stages, cruise ships, touring Europe and Dubai, as well as the USA and Canada.

Her training began as a competitive gymnast on the west coast of Canada.  Dance was soon integrated into her gymnastics training, and soon after her focus turned solely towards the art form of dance where she has extensive training in disciplines including; jazz, ballet (RAD and Cecchetti), tap, contemporary, hip hop and acro-dance. Upon graduating from The Randolph Academy of the Performing Arts for Musical Theatre, Jamie continued her training and became a certified actor combatant with Fight Directors of Canada. She also embarked on her professional performing career. While living and performing in Las Vegas the circus bug bit her and she further expanded her performance training with Aerial Acrobatics, which combines her love of both art forms perfectly.  You can now find her performing high in the air above the audience, as well as dancing on the ground.

She has been privileged to act, dance, and fly in many television shows, award shows and concerts, music videos, commercials, films and stage shows. She travels frequently to perform, as well teaches and adjudicates for various conventions and festivals across North America.  She is the sole Aerial faculty member at City Dance Corps, as well runs circus classes/workshops/intensives out of The Circus Warehouse in Toronto. Jamie is also the co-president of LaRouge Entertainment, a live entertainment company specializing in corporate entertainment.
